Overview of Request Types

After a request list has been imported, each request is categorized into one of the following types:

  • Population Requests
Requests that require the client to provide a complete listing or population. These requests serve as the foundation for selecting samples at a later stage.

  • Sample Requests
Requests for additional information or support that are linked to a Population Request. Sample Requests cannot exist independently and must be associated with a corresponding population.

  • Evidence Requests
Requests for supporting documentation where sampling is not required.

When you initially create a request list, the request type is defined as part of the import file. If you identify that a request was imported with an incorrect type, eligible requests can be updated directly within the platform.

Editing a Request Type

All users are able to edit the type of a request, provided the request meets the system requirements outlined below.

To edit an existing request’s type:

  1. Navigate to the Requests tab.

  2. Locate and select the impacted request.

  3. Click the Edit (pencil) icon to open the Edit Request modal.

  4. In the modal, locate the Request Type field.

  5. Select the field to open a dropdown menu and choose the appropriate request type.

  6. Click Save Edits to apply the change.

Once saved, the request will immediately reflect the updated request type.

Sample Request Linking Requirement

If you change a request to a Sample Request, it must be linked to a corresponding Population Request before it can be saved.

If the sample request is not linked, a validation message will appear prompting you to associate the request with a population. The request cannot be saved until this requirement is met.

Impact of Changing a Request Type

Changing a request’s type does not impact:

  • Existing client responses

  • Previously uploaded attachments

  • The audit trail or historical activity

Updating the request type only affects the functionality available for that request. For example:

  • Sample Requests will require population linking.

  • Evidence Requests will no longer require sample selection.

Editing Limitations and Restrictions

Not all requests can be edited after import.

For example:

  • If samples have already been selected for a Population Request, the request type cannot be changed.

  • To update the request type in this scenario, users must first:

    • Delete the selected samples, or

    • Mark the population as a Non-Occurrence

Once one of these actions is completed, the request type may be edited if no other restrictions apply.
